Maebelle's Beef or Chicken Teriyaki Sticks

Yield: 10-12 sticks

Source: Adapted from Aloha Joe Recipes, accessed 6/14/2004

1½ lb. thinly sliced flank steak or chicken

⅓ cup sugar (I use brown sugar)

½ cup soy sauce

1 clove garlic, crushed

1 (½ inch) piece ginger root, crushed

1 box of Uncle BEn's Rice Pilaf

Fresh pineapple spears for garnish

Soak your skewers in water, so that they will not burn in the broiler.

Then place your beef or chicken in a bowl.

Combine sugar, soy sauce, garlic and ginger, then pour it over the meat.

Marinate beef or chicken for at least 30 minutes.

Preheat the broiler and move the oven rack to the middle position.

Thread your beef/chicken on the skewers. Place the skewers on a cookie sheet.

Follow the directions on the box of Uncle Ben's Rice Pilaf. When you finally have the water coming to a boil to cook the rice, then go ahead and start broiling the meat skewers.

Broil in the broiler for 3 to 5 minutes on each side. Enjoy!!

A hui hou, Maebelle
