Panache Chocolate Chip Bars
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs, separated
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
Pinch of salt
8 ounces semi-sweet pure chocolate chips
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream butter and sugar.
Mix in egg yolks, flour, baking powder and salt.
Press into a greased and floured 9 X 9-inch pan.
Push chocolate chips down into mixture.
Refrigerate 10-20 minutes.
Beat egg whites until soft peaks form.
Add brown sugar, one tablespoon at a time, and beat until stiff.
Add vanilla.
Spread on top of dough.
Bake 20 minutes at 325 degrees.
Cool and cut in 1 1/2-inch squares.
