Oh & Ah Cake

3 1-ounce squares baking chocolate

1 cup hot water

1 teaspoon red food coloring

1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda

1/2 teaspoon salt

2 cups sugar

3 eggs

1/2 cup margarine or shortening

2 1/2 cups sifted cake flour

1 cup sour cream


Melt chocloate in hot water.

Cool, then add food coloring and baking soda.

Stir and set mixture aside.

Cream together until fluffy in large mixer bowl, sugar, salt and shortening.

Then beat in eggs one at a time.

Add alternately in thirds, cake flour and sour cream.

Gently stir in the chocolate mixture and beat on medium speed of the mixer about 2 minutes.

Bake in greased and floured 8-inch layer pans(3) or 9-inch (2) at 350 degrees until cake tests done. (30 - 40 Minutes)

Cool then frost.
